Why HoLA

Mountain Climbing

The mountain we will climb is Iwaonupuri. The climb will take about 90 minutes and is not a strenuous climb. The challenge is that will we do the climb at night. In past years, a cloud layer has covered the mountain, reducing visibility even farther. This fortunate event creates a mystical atmosphere and a disconcerting feeling, as we trek at 1 AM through the fog over the volcanic tuff to reach the windy summit.

Outdoor Camping

Thursday evening HoLA will pitch tents and have a barbecue dinner near Goshiki Onsen. Onsen means hot spring in Japanese, in which we will soak in after dinner.

Friday morning we'll make breakfast under the sun, and then travel to the coast for some rock climbing.
